The hungarian team, provisional leader of the FD World Championship

FD World Championship

Today, monday 6th of september, it took place the first race day of the Flying Dutchman World Championship with a total of 84 participants from all over the world.

The FD World Championship kicked off last weekend with the registration and measurement of the participant boats, which will be held until the 11th of September by the spanish sailing club Club Náutico Altea.



The race programme began with the celebration of the two scheduled legs. The course was presented with Southeast wind of 7/8 knots of intensity.



The hungarian team, formed by Szabolcs Majthenyi and Andras Domokos, was proclaimed provisional leaders after crossing the finish line in first position both times during the two races that were scheduled for this first day.



From RCN Torrevieja, the spanish sailors Francisco Martinez Torregrosa and Jose Luis Ruiz Giron took the second place followed by the german team formed by Kay Uwe Ludtke y Kai Schäfers.



Nice races are still to be celebrated during the following six days of the campionship, therefore, the world Flying Dutchman champion title remains at stake in the regatta, with a total of 42 participants.
